Devlin Remslin
Human
Cronie/Underling
27
Don't think he's all luck and wealth and just on top of the food chain because he stomped over others to get there. Devlin knows the meaning of hardships. He grew up a street thug with a junkie gang leading father and a pitiful, heroine whore mess of a mother. He was just one of several cheeky bastards that his father turned a blind eye to. Soon as he was old enough to walk and talk by himself, he was out selling his daddy's cocaine, meth, heroine: anything the guy could get cash for. Devlin never got addicted. He saw the state of the creeps around him and he wanted out more than anything. He had to work hard in his run down school to satisfy teachers that hated him just so he could get the chance to grow up somewhere between good and not bad. He enrolled in the military at seventeen and they paid for his college. He left the ghetto to live with some college buddies in a better apartment states away from his so called family. Life was starting to look up, but it always does that. Life really is a roller coaster. You get to the top only to drop to the bottom, and Devlin hit the rockiest shit-hole bottom at a very young age from a very high peak. While serving his time overseas, he wound up in an accident of sorts that gave him blast lung and left him paralyzed from the waist down. Through what can only be called a miracle, he pulled through the lung portion, but he was told he could never walk again. That wound up to be a lie as he slowly regained motor and sensory function, and the doctors had to backtrack and affirmed that his spinal cord was intact and that he would make full recovery. He finally did, but he didn't think he could ever go back in the military. He had terrible PTSD and varied sleeping disorders. The military honorably discharged him after a psych evaluation came up really bad for him. After that, he essentially vanished from everyone's lives. He forgot his friends and they forgot him. He didn't show his face to society again until he was well inducted into Cirque de la Sombre, but by then no one would be able to recognize him. He had changed. His issues were less dominant and his severe and serious side had been replaced with that wonderful showman's demeanor of aiming to please. Devlin is unpredictable to a fault. His smiles and frowns seem to stem from somewhere where emotions are spun on a wheel and whichever one the ticker lands on is the one he'll feel and display. He's a classic, gentleman bad-boy, the kind that sweeps women off their feet and lands men in the grave. He's a hard boss with the strictest of regimes and a no-holds-barred form of punishment techniques, but he can have a sweeter, mellower side. But even after all that strictness and form-fitting, he has the most bizarre burst of spontaneity that are always the kind to shock and wow others. Not always in a good way, but not always in a bad way either. Even if you hate him, you can work with him. He's the kind of guy that's very versatile and willing to perform whatever will be a success. He despises failure. It's like an obsession of his to have things perfect. He is a lover and a tactician rather than a brute, which can make him a little bit of an outsider among all the hard, cruelties that run this affair. He never really fits any sort of expectations, so don't think you know everything about him.

Viviance Demaera
18
Euas
Though it gets her in terrible trouble and results in awful punishment, Viviance is never afraid of standing up for herself and speaking her mind. People say she's going to wind up getting herself killed, and the only thing that hasn't ended her sooner is her fantastic abilities and performance. She knows they're right. Someday, she's going to say one thing too many and the axe will fall, as the saying goes. She doesn't seem to, well, care. She can get broken down and beaten up, but she'll nurse her wounds only to come back for another round. She grew up in a happy, lovely home with the only problems being political. It is from her father that she gets her boldness and inability to be deterred. Only now in this hellhole does she actually feel the need to utilize her voice and stand on her own two feet. She started the circus pathetic and weak and wasted, but that all changed. It changed and now she's confident and strong in herself despite her, in a sense, brave stupidity. Viviance comes across as tough but sweet, loyal and charming and graceful, but also cold and crafty. Though she does dabble in the immoral acts that the circus prides itself in in the backdrop, she knows deep down in her heart that she despises this life and will do everything in her power to make the cruelty and the abuse of power stop. Unfortunately, she stands alone and therefore stands to fail.

Maudlin "Maude" Graves
Kinetic Psychic
Stage Act
24
They call him freak, but he's more than that. He knows he is. He can do things most can't, and it's not a matter of power, it's what he does with that power. He never shows people all his skill. He gives them a taste and lets them think that's the extent. In the dark, he can fabricate whole new levels of destruction and creation with a simple thought or gesture. He can crush the living and raise the dead. In a manner of speaking. He's powerful. Been training in his art of telekinesis for over twenty years. He knows a thing or two about making objects fly and causing the audience to shudder at his work. He performs because everything is an act. Someday he will be free. Someday. Just as he was forced into cages and a life of daunting slavery, so he shall crawl and claw and tear away from his bonds and chains and rise up and out to live the life he's only ever dreamed of. Maude sees the world as a prize. He sees the outside of his prison bars as a goal, a gleaming golden chalice that is his to reach out and touch. So beyond him now, but one day. One day. Conserve and bide his time and pray for strength. Utilize his gift, his curse, so that it may become his tool and his weapon. He will bend to his masters whims but he will never break. His will is of iron and his heart is of steel. Once opened, it pours with emotion and love and a happiness all his own. He is cold and resolute as a statue, but underneath that shell lies the softer muscles of a soul full of hope and life and wonder. It may sound pathetic or corny, but that is the truth. The truth and the story of an uncrushable spirit. The spirit of Maudlin Graves. More commonly called Maude for its simplicity, he is a young man of twenty-four with the world weary body of an older man and the fire of a young rebel: all passion and fervor for a fight. He has dark hair cut close and short with light silver eyes, unnatural and bright.

Eyrie Tocklin
Divine
Oracle
17
Eyrie is a rather, well, eerie sort of person. As a Divine, he sees the future, the past, thoughts and feelings, and the sorts of things men merely dream of being able to understand. He hates it though. His ability was what wound him up in this place. He's been here since he was eight years old and life hasn't been treating him any better. He spends most of his days hiding, only coming out to eat or drink or do his job. He's called Oracle instead of merely Fortune Teller because his visions are more prophetic and riddled in mystery and the ethereal than straightforward palm reading and card flipping. He doesn't really understand how his powers work, and that's fine with him to some degree. He'd rather not know. Knowing would probably just reveal all sorts of nasty secrets about himself that he'd rather keep secret.
